The Blackwater Maple Table

This piece is built from a slab that doesn’t come around often.

Highly figured spalted maple, selected for its depth, movement, and natural voids, is paired with a deep black epoxy that runs through the slab like a shadow. The contrast is bold, but nothing about it is forced—every line and shape is dictated by the wood itself.

Each void is carefully stabilized and filled, preserving the raw character while creating a smooth, continuous surface. The result is a top that feels natural at a distance, and reveals more detail the closer you get.

The table is fully flattened, hand-finished, and sealed for durability, giving it a clean, low-sheen look that highlights the grain without overpowering it. It’s supported by a modern, minimal base designed to keep the focus on the slab while providing long-term stability.

No two pieces like this can be made the same way twice. Once this slab is gone, it’s gone. This piece can be built with your choice of leg/base style and finish, allowing it to fit seamlessly into your space.
